Artisans

Cooks, dressmakers, metalsmiths (blacksmiths, coppersmiths, jewelry makers, etc.), armorers, physicians, herbalists, weavers, and other craftspeople are essential to the functioning of the castle. Meanwhile, many of the artisans selling wares in the city sell tools, equipment, and protective clothing for miners or make goods using locally-mined ore.

While artisans (aside from a few elite craftspeople) have little direct interest at court, Reda is extremely proud of the quality of its metal and metalworkers. The biggest annual festival in Reda is a series of summer tournaments that demonstrate the quality of Redan blades. In addition to jousts, there are knife-throwing contests, wood-splitting races, fish-scaling competitions, plow-dragging races, fabric-pinning heats, needle-in-a-haystack searches, and every imaginable test of metalwork.
